Cherry Blossom Way, Shrewsbury

DJD Architects are pleased to have worked with J Harper and Sons to deliver 12 new affordable homes for Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing at Cherry Blossom Way, Shrewsbury. The completed homes were formally opened in June 2023.

The development is a mix of two and three bedroom houses for shared ownership and affordable rent along with a two bedroom Part M4(3) wheelchair accessible bungalow.

This site in Shrewsbury comprised a redundant two storey building previously used as a children’s centre. Located in a principally residential area opposite a primary school and backing onto playing fields, the site is ideally located for new affordable family homes.

The redevelopment removed the redundant building and provided twelve new affordable family homes with private gardens, sustainable urban drainage and landscaping within this compact site.

The fully wheelchair accessible bungalow, achieves compliance with Approved Document M4 (Category 3), adaptable and accessible homes, inclusive of accessible shower room and kitchen with height adjustable work surface.

Planning consent was granted in July 2021, with works on site commencing spring 2022 and handing over in June 2023.
