This project sees the conversion of a grand late victorian pub building into a modern 24hr veterinary facility for YourVets, part of CVS Group, the UK’s largest veterinary group.
The building had sat empty for a number of years after a catastrophic arson attack and had become something of an eyesore in a prominent location in Smethwick, but is now almost unrecognisable.
By carefully altering the original building, as well as adding a substantial new extension we have created a modern fully-featured clinic that will act as a hub supporting other branches in the West Birmingham area.
Facilities include:
- Separate cat and dog waiting areas
- Six consultation rooms
- Separate wards for cats and dogs
- Clinical prep and laboratory areas
- Two operating theatres for general surgery
- Separate dental theatre
- X-ray and ultrasound imaging
- Pharmacy
- Administrative offices
- Staff facilities including rooms for night staff
The new use required a high standard of servicing to ensure adequate lighting, full mechanical ventilation and air conditioning, whilst finishes were required to be both hard wearing and hygienic. The X-ray room is also fully lead lined, including the door and specialist shielded glazing.
