Home Office & Guest Suite

Our Client asked us to look at creating a guest suite and home office space above the existing double garage. The design utilises the topography of the garden and the structure of the existing double garage to create a first floor extension with it’s own entrance via a short bridge from the higher part of the garden. The unusual roof form, with a gable to each elevation creating a cruciform floor plan, was designed to maximise the floor plan while keeping the ridge height as low as possible.

The extension has been clad in larch which will be allowed to weather naturally and the original roof tiles reused to allow the building to settle into the mature garden. The extension has sliding folding doors to both sides of the entrance way, allowing the extension to be opened to the garden. In addition to securing planning permission for the garage extension/conversion, we provided a full service package including ongoing support, securing Building Regulations approval, managing the tender process, and contract administration while the project was in construction (stages 0-6).
