Country House, Gloucestershire

This residence on the bank of the River Severn, West of the city of Gloucester, was substantially renovated and extended to meet the modern lifestyle requirements of its owners.

The original farmhouse had been extended in a piecemeal fashion in the past, this scheme sought to make alterations that would produce a more sympathetic overall composition.

A bright highly glazed extension was added to the south elevation to provide a family room off the large contemporary farmhouse kitchen. The lounge was relocated to the first floor, and a glazed green oak frame inserted into the gable wall to make the most of spectacular views down river, full width sliding folding doors allow the lounge to spill out onto a new deck above the family room.

The adjacent barn was also converted at the same time to provide comfortable guest accommodation within a separate annexe.
