Residential Development, Malvern Hills

Working with planning consultant Malcolm Scott Consultants DJD Architects achieved Outline Planning Permission for 63no. new houses on agricultural land, adjoining but outside of the settlement boundary at Poolbrook, Malvern.

It was a site that had many challenges, highways concerns and access acquisition issues meant that two parallel applications were submitted, with accesses the existing estate and from the main road respectively.

Portions of the larger site are indicated as being at risk of flooding by the Environment Agency and part of the land to the south is a former landfill site which the proposed designs had to take into account.

The site is adjacent a sewer works and again site layout had to take into account the odour contour mapping carried out by specialist consultants and allow easements for the number of large sewers crossing the site.

The site is also in a sensitive location, set at the base of the Malvern Hills and affecting an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The consultant team led by the planning consultant worked closely with the Local Planning Authority to secure a successful outcome for the scheme, which included independent design review of the scheme by the MADE expert panel.
