Development Plan Representation, Droitwich

DJD Architects worked as part of a team including land surveyors, landscape architects, archaeological consultant, highways and flood risk engineers and led by planning consultant Malcolm Scott Consultants. A masterplan scheme was developed for residential development on agricultural land at Hampton Lovett, on the edge of Droitwich Spa, to be put forward for inclusion in the South Worcestershire Development Plan.

The main obstacles to development were the impact on the village and setting of the church, highways concerns and engineering appropriate access to suit the size of development, and flood risk across part of the site.

Two options were developed taking account of the area of pluvial flood risk in case it proved impractical to engineer a scheme of mitigation, resulting in proposed development of either 197 or 226 units.

Topography and fluvial flood risk discounted development of other areas of the site which instead were utilised as contributions to green infrastructure.
