The café is situated within the historic Crown Passage in Worcester City centre. The conversion of the Listed Building provided challenges for the design team and the building contractor, with unsupported floors, unexpected steel beams and access officers but with the aid of some mirrors and other sleight of hand Cafe Deco went live.
As the name suggests the café has been designed with a strong Art Deco theme that runs through flooring lighting and decoration in the cafe with deco patterns inlayed in the flooring leading into the café and around the bar and deco style back bar that displays much of the clients silver deco pieces. The theme even carries through to the basins and toilets on the first floor.
The café opened at the end of 2006 with an opening party with an Art Deco dress code and live jazz band.
