Our People

As a design practice we recognise that our staff are our greatest asset and accordingly are committed to continuing training and development of staff at all levels within the company. Being an RIBA Chartered Practice, we conform to the RIBA Employment Policy.

We believe that it is essential that our staff combine design flair with technical proficiency. All of our studio team are either chartered architects or in education on recognised university courses training toward qualification, this helps to ensure that attention to design issues remains prominent throughout the entire project delivery process.

Training

The company encourages all staff to participate in training, training opportunities are made available in accordance with our Equality and Diversity policy. We are registered with the West Midlands RIBA CPD (Continual Professional Development) scheme, allowing access to a wide range of courses. It is ensured that all qualified professionals fulfill mandatory CPD requirements and they are encouraged to exceed them.

In addition to external training courses the company runs its own training and continuing professional development subsidiary DJD Building Excellence. DJD Building Excellence hosts training seminars and courses for both our staff, clients, local authorities and other local practices. Visit the DJD Building Excellence website at www.djdgroup.co.uk/buildingexcellence.

As well as formal training courses members of staff are allowed time to visit events such as Interbuild (The Building Exhibition), are encouraged to visit the schools of architecture when the opportunity arises and participate in the RIBA's Validation Panel of schools of architecture.

We are members of the Worcestershire Society of Chartered Architects which allows staff the opportunity to attend a variety of lectures, talks and presentations.

All staff are supported in pursuing relevant courses and qualifications.

The company supports new talent on both the design and administrative sides, offering year out placements to architecture students, participating in the Modern Apprenticeship scheme and offering work experience placements to GCSE and A Level students. We see these sorts of schemes as vital to providing a skilled work force tomorrow and are proud to be associated with them.
