Mill Road, Stourport-on-Severn

This scheme in Stourport-on-Severn was for a private client who needed to maximise the sale value of his property. The proposals replace a pair of houses that had been designated as locally listed with 7 new dwellings ranging in size from a 1 bedroom flat to a 4 bedroom house.

A previous scheme by another applicant had been unsuccessful, due to concerns raised by the conservation officer. However, by careful liaison with the local planning authority DJD Architects were able to achieve a successful outcome for our client.

Pitched roof forms were used to tie the scheme to the surrounding area whilst a diverse palette of materials and more contemporary formal elements differentiate the scheme from adjacent development.

Key points:

  • The scheme maximises density and therefore land value of the site.
  • Quality of design was fundamental to the success of the planning application.
  • A variety of unit types and sizes is provided, including family homes.
