Worcestershire County Cricket Club Stand

The Worcestershire County Cricket Club ground, situated within an important conservation area and with dramatic views to the Cathedral across the River Severn, provided a challenge when the Practice was asked to assist with the design of the new stand for the club.

The preservation of the principal views of the Cathedral and the development of a design with simplicity of concept yet with elegance and subtlety were critical.

The tensile fabric canopies provide shelter to the walkways to the rear of the stand, whilst providing skyline detail to the pavillion view of the new structure.

Key points:

  • Sympathetic design does not detract from views of the Cathedral.
  • Tensile structures provide shelter to rear walkways.
